May December Movie Review - LFF 2023
Fuuuuuuck 😦
Apparently there are a lot of woman in white stories in Eastern Asia, but one thing I found was Jong-Gu was a weak man, comedic at times and just not cut out to be a cop, he ran from the possessed woman and I guess pissed his pants. When he grabs the guy that gets struck by lightning, I was thinking man you can’t just grab people and cause them to end up falling. But his one redeeming quality was his love for his daughter.
I cannot even begin to say what this film does to me, and I don’t understand why. A beautiful beautiful masterpiece that now lives in my soul rent free
u talk too much
Amazing movie.
this is so true!!! when that song started playing i almost felt appalled by how well it fit
the cinematography was nice but I couldn't get through it because it was too boring simply because the character I could care less about, that's the problem with it no fault to Dafoe (he tried to act the hell out of it) other than taking the role but it was film I couldn't care enough about the character to be interested in his inner turmoil.
your coverage is a little too dramatic for just a simple rant
The only thing I enjoyed is the snow , Willem's hair & beard
bravo 👏🎬
From your shirt to your bed sheets, love your use of colour here to match the colour palette of Challengers. Beautifully done video essay, where the pacing of the editing and the photography practices what you're preaching, imagination and intent... and I absorbed your words better for it, with everything helping the viewer focus on what you're saying. While you showed examples from the film, your video itself is also an example. (I would've put The Staggering Girl in the fashion/perfume commercial section tho ;-)) Looking forward to further exploring your channel.
Definitely not able to watch your review since it's all your annoying face. Maybe redo with only shots of the movie.
I'll have to respectfully disagree with you on Perfect Days and its use of music. I thought the Nina Simone song in the closing scene was the most heavy-handed use of a song in a film I've ever seen. Some of the tracks in the main body of the film work better, but I still felt the songs were not suited to the scenes. The film relied too heavily on the songs doing the emotional heavy lifting.
great video! instant sub
Mate, you totally nailed this one. I’m a huge fan of AW and as someone new to his films, you sold this totally to someone else who would respond to them. Instant like and subscribe 👍
I don't comment often. Thought this video had 600k views whilst watching, and was surprised when I scrolled down to look at the view count at 600 5 mins in. Keep up the good work.
Appreciate the comment dude!
pleaseee add pictures of the actors/characters youre talking about!!
this is such a great video, the editing is ELITE. you deserve so many more views :O i loved perfect days, it was such a unique movie and you really captured how the music made me feel in a way i couldnt quite articulate
Thank you so much for watching and dishing out the compliments! This film really is something special
whenever I get a video recommended with low views I have to watch, because who am I if not a silly human being who loves a good treasure hunt
Fighting the good fight 🫡
@@StuTalksloved the video, excited to see what more you have (coming) :))
Great video, great shirt.
Haven't seen the film but I'm a bit obsessed with your video. Your editing is great and you present really well. Great to find awesome creators.
Thank you dude! Appreciate it 🙏🏻
Folks! I couldn’t resist diving deep on on our my favourite films of last year - and I know I’m not alone.. let me know your favourite needle drop in the comments👇🏻
Ending is insane
i think von trier's depression trilogy was shot like this. only this isnt demotivating
Is this video in 1.85?
Instant sub. This video was incredible!
This movie fell off my radar, I'm definitely going to check it out now thanks to your video. Great work with the essay-- talk about walking the walk and talking the talk. 👏
It is hard man! I have not made anything sine April 1st. I think I will start back within the next 2 weeks though.
I am really sorry for your loss bro.
Stu your video is OUTSTANDING for various very positive reasons. Sometimes I seriously do not like this platform wince I would love to engage with you in real time. I wrote a lot then just deleted. I the creative process is great thing. Thanks for you video!
Good effort. Feel like the video would be even better if you showed more of the scene at a time, even slowed down, while you narrate what the effect of each shot is.
The "coverage" he got completely takes you out of the film. It's style for styles sake. It doesn't serve the story at all.
Dude, I cannot watch so low level, moronic editing elaboration on such a great movie. Are you stupid? Dumb maybe?
I love this movie
the amount of effort you put in this video.. my guy you're on a different level
First video I've seen of yours and subscribing straight away! Brilliant work. Also had no desire to see this film until now.
Good on you for sitting through this movie. I had to cut bait after 30 minutes. I found its characters unbearable and writing even worse.
Great stuff man. Gonna keep this in mind about having a lot more coverage for a scene with intentions to create a feeling.
dude, halfway trough your video and I cannot wait to finnish it to say splendid pace and use of camera angles to keep up my attention span lol.
Great video mate! Thanks! Whats the font name you use in minute 1:42? Thank you! Love it
“Good” coverage should be called… Shot design?
And bad coverage = dump truck directing (we see this in TV all the time)
beautiful video, thank you for sharing something so personal. grateful to have stumbled on your channel and be inspired by you!
Thank you so much for watching!
this was a dope and direct review of there art.. thank you for this.. opened a new door
Well as many film makers if not all do. so many compositions or shots were probably ripped off, bit, stolen? from Girlfight amazing film that clearly inspired challengers in the Camera work department
Damn the way it's cut and the rythm.. and the music wow I love this
how the hell do you only have 5k followers? this video is incredible!
This is not what coverage is at all bro, coverage is extra footage which is used to splice in incase of issues, be they continutity, audio, there are loads of interviews from directors explaining why they don’t shoot coverage to understand why and what it actually is.
coverage is all footage shot for a scene. I double checked by googling and every single website confirms this. why do you say otherwise?
@@donniemp3 well done Google always knows best 😂😂😂, better than every director working in the field
@@davidb9531 where do you think google results come from? So far the only person saying otherwise is you, so I’m asking where you got that from. Otherwise, im gonna believe the entirety of the internet over you lol
@@donniemp3 bro read the comments there’s a comment from a family member saying this is not what coverage is - there’s a video on RUclips with Werner Herzog saying he doesn’t shoot coverage, so if coverage is what you say it is the he clearly shoots movies that just use sound, listen to directors commentaries educate yourself past Google and what modern filmmakers use the term “coverage” to mean.
@@davidb9531 bro I don’t know what your vendetta against google is. There are hundreds of articles on this topic, in addition to videos, explaining this topic. You’re telling me they’re all wrong, and some family member and one video is the determining factor. Believe what you want, but I’m gonna believe a word means what everyone else says it means. Have a nice day lol
Completely agree that it was very broad and clichéed - stupid upper class people swanning about talking drivel and they even had a creepy butler - omg! The story was derivative (Ripley) and the main actor was clearly 10 years too old for the part - all I could see was a bunch of people acting out a lame script, which I agree was trying incredibly hard to be "out there" (those stupid sex bits) but it was just embarrassing to watch. You need to go back to a bunch of films in the 1960s to see the upper classes been satirised way better than this. Pretty cinematography wasn't enough to paper over the cracks for me.
